Funimation acquires Pretear anime series

Series previously licensed by ADV Films; Funimation acquires multi-platform rights.
North American anime distributor Funimation Entertainment has announced on Thursday that the company has licensed the anime series Pretear.
The company has acquired the broadcast, home entertainment, merchandising, and streaming rights.
But it is still unknown if the anime’s home video release will include the previously released English dubbed track.
Prétear follows the 16 year old Himeno Awayuki, who was a once a normal girl until her father married a woman who happens to be rich. Since then, she has been perceived as an outcast by both her new stepsisters and her classmates. Later Himeno finds out from seven men called the Leafe Knights that she is something called Pretear, a girl who has the power to merge with and control the nature of the elemental-oriented powers from the Leafe Knights and stop an evil being called the Princess of Disaster. Mahou Tsukai Tai! writer and director Junichi Sato is the chief director of the anime series, while Skip Beat! director Kiyoko Sayama is the director in-charge, and the storyboard was handled by Negima?! scriptwriter Kenichi Kanemaki.
The anime was first acquired by anime company ADV Films, and it was released on DVD in bilingual form.
