Winners of Paris Japan Expo Awards, Announced

Award honours include Bakuman., Kaichou wa Maid-sama!, and Summer Wars.


The winners of the 6th annual Japan Expo Awards were announced on Thursday in Paris.

Numerous awards were given out in various categories, ranging from Manga, Anime, Asian Films, J-Music and the likes.

The winners were determined via online voting at www.japan-expo-awards.com, and was announced on June 30.

Notable winners include Kaichou wa Maid-sama! as the Best Shoujo (Prix du Meilleur Shôjo) in the Manga category, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 as the Best Original Series (Prix de la Meilleure Série Originale) in the Anime Category, Summer Wars as the Best Animated Film (Prix du Meilleur Film d’Animation) in the Asian Film Category. The award-giving body also honours Nobuteru Yuki, character designer of various anime programmes which include The Vision of Escaflowne and Paradise Kiss, and Yumiko Igarashi, creator of the manga & anime series Candy Candy.

 

Japan Expo Awards is an award-giving body, handed out during Japan Expo (JE).

JE is a Japanese Pop-Culture Convention showcasing anything Japan to the French People.

The event is held in Paris, France, and usually happens on the first week of July, and is held for four (4) days.

Events include Cosplay Competitions, Fairs, Fashion Shows, and J-Pop performance.

Over the years, the Expo has invited popular Japanese personalities, which includes mangakas, singers, and directors.
